2nd Ross Broiler and Breeder Seminar in Jordan Well Received Among Poultry Producers

Posted on 06/02/2020

Event featured Ross 400 and 140 Club awards

EDINBURGH, Scotland. – The Ross® Middle East and Africa (MEA) team extended a warm welcome to more than 150 poultry professionals during the second annual Ross Jordan Seminar. Held Oct. 14-15 in Amman, Jordan, the gathering included Ross customers, university delegates and industry service providers, all expressing enthusiasm for the advice shared and the opportunity to network with industry colleagues.

The Ross team has a firm understanding of the Jordanian market, thanks to frequent field visits and a close relationship with customers in the region. This insight enabled them to choose topics especially suited to the unique needs of Jordanian growers, focusing on key environment, health and nutrition areas that greatly impact the health, welfare and performance of Ross birds.

Paying tribute to excellence

The highlight of the event was to honor high-achieving Jordanian customers at the Ross 400 and Ross 140 Club award ceremony. The awards are reserved for customers who, through hard work, dedication and excellence in stockmanship reach top performance with their Ross flocks, and Jordanian customers are currently seeing impressive results, both at the broiler and breeder levels.

The Ross 400 Club recognizes producers who score a European Production Efficiency Factor (EPEF) of 400 or more with their broiler flocks. On the other hand, Ross 140 Club members are distinguished by a breeder performance of 140 or more chicks per hen housed at 60 weeks; those who produce 150 or more chicks are named as “Gold” members.

At the ceremony, Al Jazeera Poultry entered the Ross 400 Club, with many of its broiler flocks exceeding 400 EPEF and the highest scorer reaching 430.9 EPEF.

Al Jazeera was also inducted into the Ross 140 Club, joining Al Tahooneh, Msharbash Poultry and National Poultry as Gold members.

Ibrahim Ibrahim, Technical Manager, Ross MEA, expressed his satisfaction with the seminar, as well as the progress of the Ross brand. “Ross continues to go from strength to strength, and we strive to constantly enhance service and support for our valued customers in Jordan. The seminar provided delegates with a range of relevant and timely information. Offering seminars such as this, along with our continuous program of workshops and road shows, will hopefully go a long way in assisting the market in reaching its potential. The Ross 308 broiler and breeder are both experiencing considerable performance and popularity in the Jordanian market, and we work hand-in-hand with all customers to further this success.”

Taha Al-Hussieni, Operations Manager of Al Jazeera Poultry, remarked, “I am delighted to be a member of the Ross 140 Club. This achievement is thanks to the superior genetics of the Ross 308 and also the intensive support we receive from the Ross MEA team. We are thankful for the support and look forward to continue working with the Ross MEA team.”

Gaining momentum in Jordan

Jordan represents a major poultry market in the MEA for Ross, and has made significant progress in recent years. Ross has clearly become the “Breed of Choice” for the challenging poultry industry in Jordan, and the Ross MEA team is committed to continuously enhancing their knowledge of market needs right along with their strong support to growers throughout the region.
