Felipe Kroetz discusses the main factors in the early development of poultry
CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America was proud to participate in the Brazil South Poultry Symposium (SBSA), held April 8–10 in Chapecó, Santa Catarina. Organized by the Western Nucleus of Veterinarians and Zootechnicians (Nucleovet), the event brought together poultry specialists from across Brazil to explore the latest challenges and innovations in the industry.
Aviagen’s involvement in the symposium reflected its ongoing commitment to “Breeding Success Together” by sharing knowledge and strengthening relationships within the poultry community.
Focus on early-stage chick development
Key to advancing the sector is sharing knowledge, and Aviagen’s Regional Supervisor of Technical Services and Incubation Specialist, Felipe Kroetz Neto, shared his insights on how effective incubation management influences chick quality during the crucial first week — with lasting effects on welfare, performance and the overall sustainability of poultry farming.
“Chick quality starts well before incubation — with proper breeder health, nutrition and environmental care. From egg collection to incubation, each step plays a role in the performance of the bird in the field,” explained Kroetz.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining ideal conditions in the hatchery, including temperature, humidity, egg turning and ventilation, all of which contribute to optimal hatchability and chick viability, as well as chick yield.
Supporting customers throughout the event
Aviagen sponsored symposium logistics, providing convenient hotel-to-event transportation for customers and guests. The team also welcomed close to 70 customers from across Brazil to a lunch in their honor.
