Latin American team collaborates with Cargill, Monisa and Kikiriki to share practical knowledge aligned to local poultry production needs
CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America recently brought its Knowledge Without Borders seminar series to Managua, Nicaragua, where local poultry producers took part in three tailored events designed to share proven, science-based strategies aligned with their specific needs. These efforts support animal welfare and sustainability, while helping producers supply their communities with affordable, nutritious chicken protein.
The program began on March 23-24 with Cargill, followed by a one-day session with Monisa on March 26 and a final event with Kikiriki on March 27. Each program was developed in close collaboration with the host company, ensuring the content reflected their production systems, priorities and day-to-day realities.
Practical topics shaped by customer needs
While all three events focused on strengthening poultry management, each agenda was adapted to address the areas most relevant to each producer. Across the sessions, key topics included:
- Female and male breeder management
- Uniformity and fertility
- Egg handling for incubation
- Chick management during the first 10 days
- Critical incubation points
- Environmental control and flock comfort
- Mechanical nest management
- Litter management and cleanout
- Feed quality and productivity
- Water quality
- Liver health and immune response
- Nutrition strategies to support flock performance
The programs allowed time for open discussion, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and explore solutions together with Aviagen specialists and industry partners.

Shared learning across the poultry value chain
Aviagen speakers for the Nicaragua events included Luis Pachón, Jorge Amado, Juan Carlos Velez, Henry Rivas and Rodrigo Cisoto. They were joined by representatives from Plasson and Interagro (Boehringer, Petersime, Safeeds, Nutec and Carval), bringing together a broad range of expertise to support customer success.
